Michelle and Sam’s New Year’s Eve wedding trailer

Michelle and Sam were married on New Year’s Eve and had a wonderful celebration. I asked Michelle some questions about the theme, colors, and Sam’s proposal. Take a look at their wedding trailer from the Liberty House and enjoy!

1. What were the theme and colors of your wedding?
Since the wedding was New Year’s Eve the theme was that! We had New Year’s Eve favors and the colors were black and gold. Since everyone loves a good New Year’s Eve party, we also made the event black tie. It was so fun seeing our friends get all dressed up!

2. How did you decide on this theme?
We actually hadn’t even thought about a New Year’s Eve wedding and got the idea from a friend of ours (one of the bridesmaids!) who mentioned something about how much fun she had at a New Year’s Eve wedding the year before. As we get older, we’re always looking for something fun to do on NYE with our friends and a fun reason to get dressed up. So we decided to be the reason!

3. How did you meet each other?
After college my best friend Michelle and I moved to New York City from Seattle. Sam’s friend Miguel worked with Michelle at an engineering firm and we became friends with Miguel and his group of friends which included Sam. We were friends for a while before we started dating and the rest is history. We were dating for about 6 years before we got married.

4. How did the Sam propose?
Sam’s proposal was a complete and utter surprise to me. Although we had talked about getting married, he pulled off an epic surprise the night of the proposal and gave us a night we’ll never forget. He flew my family in from Seattle and Albany, my best friend from Los Angeles and his whole family came down from upstate New Jersey/New York. He said we were going out with our friends Matt and Torri to dinner in Jersey City. On the way there we passed the restaurant where we had our first date, Azucar, a Cuban restaurant and cigar bar. He said we should go in for a drink since we were early for our reservation so we stopped at the bar. He and Matt went to “smoke a cigar” while Torri and I had a glass of wine. I didn’t suspect anything until we asked me to come to the back so he could show me something. These double doors opened to a back room and there were all our family and friends. He got down on one knee and proposed and I was so in shock I don’t remember much else. Luckily, his brother got the whole thing on tape so we have a wonderful memory we can watch anytime.

The Wedding Day:
The weather was unseasonably warm for New Year’s Eve and it was a continuous party. Michelle and Sam both dressed at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City. Sam’s brother came up with the unique idea of Attaching a GoPro camera on a jug of FireBall!! People took sips throughout the day and night, which made for some fun moments. The first look happened at the park just next to the Liberty House in Jersey City, New Jersey. The ceremony was held at the Liberty House and both Michelle and Sam recited their own vows. Once the ceremony concluded it was time to party!!! Posh entertainment played the hits and Michelle and Sam even got a slow motion photo booth from Joseph Edwards Films.
