Real Weddings 2015..this Love story was about the details!

How did you meet?

We actually met on an online dating site… Talked for a few hours on the phone, decided to go on a date and the rest was history. We were together for 3 years before Mike proposed. This November will be 5 years since we met.

How did the Mike propose?
My husband was going through chemotherapy at the time and the only concern on my mind was for him to get better – not get married. Little did I know that on the days he was feeling up to it, he would drive an hour to the jeweler to design my ring over the course of a few months. I still can’t believe he did that for me. Mike ended up proposing on my birthday at a pumpkin patch in the rain.. It was the last thing I expected to happen that day!! The treatment worked, he got better and 11 months later we were married!

What was the inspiration behind planning your wedding (color palette, decor, venue)?
I always knew I wanted everything to be very traditional. There’s something about ivory and gold that is timeless to me and I think when I look back ten or twenty years from now I will always love the look of our wedding.

Were you involved with any aspect of the day?:
I designed the invitations, seating boards, menus, programs, petal cones and all the printed materials at The Wedding Company – I’m a graphic designer & being in the invitation business, the invites were one of the most important things since they set the tone for the wedding. Once I designed our monogram (the intertwined L and M), and had the hand calligraphy done for all the invitation pieces, I wanted to come up with a different way of packaging the invite but still keeping the traditional look of it. The end result was beautiful.

Was there a special part of the wedding day that stood apart from the rest?
The whole day was just amazing and everything went so perfect it’s hard to believe. We had so much fun and really enjoyed every second with all of our family and friends around us. My husband wasn’t really involved in the planning, so it was fun to get to see his face when he walked into the ballroom and saw all of the amazing decor and details I put together for us. From our sweetheart table setup with the amazing hanging chandeliers by Design House Décor and our custom dance floor to the cocktail napkins on the bars with our monogram and custom chapstick in the bathroom for the ladies – there was no detail (large or small) that was left out. At the end of the night I even surprised Mike and all the guests with a Mister Softee truck outside – one of Mike’s favorite things, he couldn’t believe it.
