Catherine & Brandon’s Wedding Trailer at Metropolitan Club

I had the pleasure of filming Catherine and Brandon’s Fairytale wedding at the Metropolitan Club in June of this year.

1. What were the theme and colors of your wedding?
Theme was enchanted forest, Midsummer Night’s Dream and color scheme was Gold, Red, Green, White, Pink

2. How did you decide on this theme?
Catherine is a theater major and Midsummer is her favorite play, so she wanted to do Midsummer Night’s Dream theme but the venue was too small for a forest feel so we did our best with the color scheme.

3. How did you meet each other?
Our families met by chance on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Both of our mothers are the farthest thing from shy so they began talking to each other and soon found out they were both from New Jersey. Due to a 5 year age gap, between Catherine and Brandon, there was not very much communication other than our mothers forcing us to talk. Fast forward 10 years and our mothers remained in contact. Cats mom ran a theater school and had a film premier for her student film. She invited Brandon’s family to come and see the film. We struck up a conversation and continued our relationship as friends for a few months. One thing lead to another and our relationship developed to where it is today.

4. How long have you been dating? We have been dating for 7 years.

5. How did you propose to Catherine?
Catherine’s father works at the NY Marriott Marque and every year he is in charge of running the power for various events and news outlets covering the New Year’s Eve Ball drop. After I asked both both of Catherine’s parents for Catherine’s hand in marriage I discussed the plan I had for proposing to her on New Year’s. Since Catherine grew up going to the Marriott every year for New Year’s Eve it was hard to get her to want to go now that she is older. So I came up with a plan and told all of my friends that I wanted to propose to her after the ball dropped on the roof top of the Marquis. I had to have them convince her that no one was going out for New Year’s that year which would make it easier for me to convince her to go to the Marquis and celebrate the New Year with her family. Once she was on board I had to plan out exactly how I was going to pull off holding on to the ring all night without her noticing and getting her to the roof top after the ball dropped. Additionally, my mom gave me a very large diamond ring paper weight that looked exactly like her ring and I wanted to give it to her as a joke proposal first so she would be really thrown off. I managed to hide the ring and the large paperweight in my suit jacket jacket pocket all night. Before the ball dropped we all got to go down to the street and stand between the police barricades and watch the ball drop then after that I got Catherine to go upstairs to the roof top where the news crews were set up to film the NYE event. While everyone was looking over the balcony at the crowd below celebrating the New Year I got down on one knee behind Catherine and took the big ring paperweight out and make a joke proposal to her. She completely bought it and thought that I was joking around and then I pulled out the real ring and made my real proposal. I really caught her completely off guard. Her answer was “absolutely” and from there it was set in stone!

Catherine dressed at her parents home on Staten Island and Brandon got ready at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. They met for photos at the Metropolitan Club prior to the ceremony and then it was off to St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue for the ceremony. Once te ceremony concluded it was back to the Metropolitan Club for an evening of fun and celebration!!😀
