1. Don’t be THAT Groom
This is the groom who just shows up for the wedding, yet has virtually no involvement in the planning process. Confident in the knowledge that he has done everything expected of him once he purchases the engagement ring, he feels, that his fiancée will take care of the wedding “To Do List”. Never forget the 80/20 rule which states that “80 percent of the wedding cost will come from 20 percent of the decisions” so collaborate with your partner and enjoy the process. Many experts say that the Big Three (the Guest List, the Venue and Date of your wedding) should involve the grooms advisement.

2. The Next Big Three
The Big Three are important selections when planning your wedding, yet, I believe these additions are as critical. My personal choices for the Next Big Three are the Music, the Photographer, and the Cinematography. Epic music serves as a way to create that emotional excitement for the reception, in contrast, blah music can ruin your wedding because the energy will be flat and there will be nobody dancing. Second, a picture is worth a thousand words and without a great photographer you won’t have a gorgeous keepsake of your incredible day, furthermore, with professional photos, you can share the day on Facebook or Instagram. Last, adding beautiful cinematography is s great way to capture the emotions of the day while incorporating sound and movement, furthermore, the video (along with the photos) will become a family heirloom for future generations to enjoy. In other words, take the time to assist with the Next Big Three as well.

3. Be Supportive
The fact that you were not involved in the decisions in advance of the wedding means you have no right to criticize those choices after the wedding.  The last thing your partner will want to hear on your honeymoon is your complaining about things you didn’t care about ahead of your wedding. If you didn’t speak up before the wedding, please keep quiet after the wedding!! Respect the choices your fiancée made and focus on enjoying married life.

4. Don’t Get Drunk the night before your wedding
This tip is obvious to most people, however, you’d be surprised at how many grooms I’ve seen with a severe hangover on their wedding day. This will absolutely, positively create a stressful situation for your fiancée and both sides of the family, not to mention the groomsmen, who will be stuck with the task of making sure you are sober for the first look with your fiancée. Remember…Don’t do anything you’ll regret the next day.

5. Surprise you fiancée with a gift
What’s better than a surprise gift??? Nothing!! This gift will send two messages.  First, your fiancée will feel special and loved because you took the time and effort to buy this small token of your affection.  Second, the gift will build on the excitement of the day and increase the intensity of your first look (Sounds Amazing!!).  Last, getting a surprise gift at the rehearsal dinner or on your wedding day is bad news.. if you didn’t buy one for your partner.
