Angela and Agostino first met at Paddy McGee’s in Long Beach, NY. They never would have met if not for Angela’s sister in law, who convinced Angela to meet their with friends. Guess who Angela also met that night??? Agostino asked Angela out a few times for ice cream and coffee but she never really considered that a real date and she kept canceling. After not talking for a few weeks they both figured it just wasn’t going to work out. In addition Angela’s godson broke her iPhone and she lost all of her contacts, so she couldn’t contact Agostino even if she wanted to.
Agostino was persistent and around Halloween time Angela got a text from a random number…it was Agostino and he said ” Are you ever going to let me take you out on that date?” Angela felt so bad because she didn’t know who it was and had to ask “who is this”? It made him feel as if she deleted his number. Angela felt that she just couldn’t say no to dinner. They went to L’incontro in Astoria for dinner and spent hours at talking. They began slowly going out together with friends and got to know each other over many dinners. Angela believes when they met it wasn’t the right time for both of them, but 3 months went by and it just felt right, It’s all about timing!
After almost 4 years of dating Agostino proposed to Angela at one of their favorite restaurants, Wall’s Wharf in Bayville. It was the perfect spot for Agostino’s sunset proposal.
Agostino spent 3 months creating the engagement ring with his best man’s wife and they custom designed it. When Agostino finally got the ring he couldn’t wait to propose!! 2 days after receiving the ring Agostino insisted on going to Wall’s Wharf in Bayville. He got really dressed up and Angela remembers wondering why he was so dapper on a Monday night! Angela confessed to Angela that he had to wear a button up shirt long enough to cover the ring box in his jean pocket! On a side note, Agostino asked Angela’s dad for her hand in marriage, but didn’t tell anyone so it was a surprise for everyone!

In the summer of 2010, Nicole and her closest friends from Harvard Business School decided to join a group of their classmates on a trip to South Africa over winter break. That same summer, Brian shared a house in the Hamptons with friends from Princeton, who also happened to be Nicole’s classmates from HBS. As fate would have it, they invited Brian and a few others to “crash” their trip to South Africa.
As many of you might remember, the Northeast was hit by a huge snowstorm that Christmas. Nicole’s flight to Cape Town was delayed, but she somehow made it onto the only flight out of Boston on December 28th. Brian had spent Christmas with his cousins in Zimbabwe before joining the group in Cape Town. On day two, Nicole cleverly sat beside Brian on the bus ride to the Cape of Good Hope. She opened with “soooo, you played football at Princeton?” Brian was intrigued by her football knowledge from that very moment. He has Nicole’s dad to thank for teaching her the signal for touchdown when she was 14 months old. Can’t you just picture little Nicole with both arms extended above her head?
On day three, Nicole and Brian spent several hours at Café Caprice in Camps Bay. They talked, they danced, they talked some more, and then, they almost died on the taxi ride back to the hotel. Eek! The next day, Brian started feeling really sick. (Reminder: never drink tap water in Africa). However, he somehow managed to climb Table Mountain… twice as fast as Nicole, haha. On Brian’s last night, the whole group went to La Colombe for dinner. Nicole conveniently sat at the table, keeping the seat to her right open, hoping Brian would sit by her. He didn’t.
Nicole quickly realized Brian was really not feeling well and offered to help in any way she could. Brian was touched by her kindness. They exchanged contact information, and before he landed in New York, they had made plans to see each other again.
Nicole had just one semester left and was frequently interviewing for jobs in New York, so they saw each other every couple weeks until Nicole officially moved to New York that June. The rest is history…
Brian surprised Nicole one sunny Saturday morning in September by proposing in Central Park.
Pete and Ashley first met at Michigan State when they were undergrads. Pete remembers when he met Ashley for the first time. He was a Junior and she was a Sophomore. He went to her apartment to study with her roommate Hilary. They were introduced and anytime Hilary spoke about Ashley in the future Pete would pay close attention. Eating honey chicken, wearing sweats, a baggy shirt and a backwards hat. Apparently Pete also had what he insists was a very flattering chinstrap goatee. There paths didn’t cross again in College. Three years ago Ashley received a call from Laurel, a mutual friend who wanted to set them up.
Although Ashley didn’t remember Pete by name, when she saw his photo she was interested. Pete was living in Baltimore at the time and decided to join Hilary on an upcoming trip to visit Ashley in NYC. It was not like me to pursue a girl like this, Pete said, but I had a strong feeling that Ashley was worth it. When they finally met they immediately clicked. We just started talking, Ashley said, and everything felt so comfortable. They spent the next day touring New York City and that evening, celebrating Ashley’s birthday with a group of her friends. It was there, at a bar in Union Square, that Pete finally made his move. They were standing at the bar when Pete finally leaned in for their first kiss. The two began the long distance phase of their relationship. Before long they were in love. Soon after, Pete and his dog Gibson, moved from Baltimore to New York to live with Ashley. A little more than a year ago Pete proposed and here we are. Life will never be the same after today.
